What is electrical acupuncture?
In essence, all acupuncture is electrical whereby the needle passes through the electrical resistance of the skin to activate the the healing energy latent in your body at that acupuncture point. The difference with added electricity is a matter of being able to get a much larger amount of healing energy into your channels leading to faster and more complete outcomes.
Small electrical wires are attached to the acupuncture needle at areas of deficient energy. Electrons are then pumped into the body at comfort level via the acupuncture channel system so that the body receives energy where it’s needed the most.
What does it feel like?
Electrical stimulation often feels like either no sensation at all, or a mild pulsing/tapping sensation. Voltage is added slowly and to patient comfort level. After a few minutes of treatment, the sensation of pulsing/tapping will often reduce to very mild or no sensation. When this happens, the voltage is still going through at the same rate however the sensation is reduced because the nervous system has adapted to it.
How does it heal the body?
Electrons function as anti-oxidants, cleaning up disease by restoring the body’s electrical charge. Electrical acupuncture adds large amounts of electrons to the deficient channels moving the channel pH level towards alkaline which then restores the terrain and allows healing to take place. Terrain theory explains how disease begins through acidification (loss of hydrogen electrons) of the tissues. Remember that a healthy body is pH 7.365 which is alkaline.
What have you seen clinically?
Since implementing electrical stimulation into my treatment plans, I have not looked back. I have been both amazed and surprised at the better results. I’ve been surprised at how different it is to treat with electricity versus traditional acupuncture with patients responding faster and needing fewer needles.
What if I’m not sure I like electrical acupuncture?
Totally understandable. I was this way too. For many years I was terrified of putting an electrical current through the acupuncture on my body. But I finally tried it and was quite surprised at how comfortable yet powerful it is.
There are a few important things to know:
- There are different forms of electricity, some safe and healing, others not safe. The electricity used in electrical acupuncture devices is congruent with the human body and is a safe and healing form of electricity. The electricity in our walls or in a lightening bolt is not safe. Our own heart pumps blood using our own electricity because we are electrical beings.
- The earth itself has a natural electromagnetic frequency, known as the Schumann Resonance, averages approximately 7.83 Hz. When we go barefoot on the earth we absorb this frequency, also known as “grounding”. Electrical acupuncture devices can also be set to earth’s frequency at 7.83 Hz.
- Electrical acupuncture has been used in China since the 1930s and was introduced in North America after President Nixon observed it’s use in anesthetics during his 1971 visit to China. Modern hospitals are using electrical medicine in a variety of ways from stimulation of the brain to heal depression to vagus nerve stimulation used in the treatment of arthritis.
If electrical acupuncture is recommended for you, and you feel unsure, you can still receive acupuncture without added electricity. Even regular acupuncture creates an electrical shift in the body moving it towards alkalinity, just at a slower rate than with added electricity.
You can also start with a more minimal amount of electricity, which would be on two points (two points are the minimum needed to create a curcuit), and done with a very low amount.
